Grade Checking

Grade checking is frequent, time-intensive surveying of terrain changes to monitor construction work, track progress, ensure quality, and detect deviations in the layer buildup. Infrastructure projects such as highways and railways embankments request surveyors to measure hundreds and sometimes thousands of points several times a week on the jobsite.

DatuBIM now transforms 2D designs into digital data model objects, calculates grade checking reports, and further automates progress monitoring. This entirely digital process significantly reduces work, prevents human error, saves professional resources, and ends the construction companies’ dependence on several software tools to perform these frequent reports.

DatuBIM’s automated grade checking brings additional benefits as it transforms previously siloed data to interactive and easily shared digital data that:
Gives access to progress history
Is securely stored
Allows for analytics on past phases
Can be part of cut-and-fill and progress reports
Is available for completion-to-design reports

How it works

The grade checking feature calculates the difference between a 3D layer design and the current construction progress.
This unique DatuBIM feature enables you to create a digital 3D object model from 2D layer design files: horizontal alignment, vertical profile, and cross-sections. Comparing this virtual 3D data object of the layer to imported survey points, Grade Checking automatically analyzes and delivers grade checking reports.

Grade Checking compares the height of the uploaded survey points with the height of the corresponding points in the virtual layer design and gives accurate numbers representing the height difference.

Hassle-free Import and Support of Native Design Files

Straight from the cutting edge of digital construction management! We put an end to time-consuming conversions and reliance on 3rd party software:
DatuBIM is now the first infrastructure construction analytics software that supports all leading design file formats (DXF, DWG, DGN, and LandXML) for progress monitoring analytics and design overlay visualization for quality assurance.

There is no need for any CAD experts, conversion tools, or data quality checks. Upload your native design files to DatuBIM and you are ready to go!

Digital as-built to plan comparison has changed the way DatuBIM users visualize, track and analyze the progress of their construction projects. With the newly supported design files, you can concentrate on your goals and construction projects instead of wasting your team’s time on sometimes more than tricky file conversions and design manipulations.

Besides faster and smoother workflows, you also reap a competitive advantage. Whatever design files your customers or sub-contractors bring in, you can rely on DatuBIM to handle them.

Introducing Basic and Analytics User Permissions

Take control of what your users can and cannot do.
We added new user types called “Analytics” and “Basic”. Analytics users have permission to run cross-flight comparisons, design layer comparisons, and upload design files.
Basic users cannot create or edit analytics like “Cross- Section Progress” and “Delta” calculations.
