DWG and IFC Guidelines

DWG Guidelines

DatuBIM currently supports 2D and 3D DWG designs. However, several recommended guidelines and limitations should be noted:
  1. Design Verification: Double-check the design before saving to ensure no extraneous features are present. These often appear in Layer 0 or as a frozen layer and can cause process failures. Common problematic features include, but are not limited to:
    1. Huge circles/ellipses spanning several kilometers, often hidden in frozen layers.
    2. Residual parts of other designs used during the design process but not deleted afterward.
    3. Large areas and polygons used as backgrounds, generating excessive tiles and significantly increasing upload time.
  2. Bounding Box Limitation: The 2D design is limited to a bounding box approximately 15km wider than the site’s Orthophotos. Uploading designs outside this vicinity is not recommended, as parts may be missing.
  3. Designs Holding Both 2D And 3D Layers: These will be split into two layers in a Tree View:
    1. 3D Layer: Contains all 3D features.
    2. 2D Layer: Contains all 2D and 2.5D features, adhering to the current DWG guidelines limitations.
  4. RealDWG Format: Not supported.

IFC Guidelines

DatuBIM supports the following IFC schemas: IFC2, IFC2x3, IFC4, IFC4x1, and IFC4x3. Here are some recommended guidelines:
  1. IFC-Site Object: Including an IFC-Site object with a longitude/latitude reference point is recommended but not mandatory.
  2. Software Compatibility: Supports IFCs produced through Bentley™, Autodesk™, and any other software adhering to the IFC schemas mentioned above.
  3. Units: Supports metric (meter, centimeter, millimeter) and imperial (US-foot, and international-foot). While not mandatory, it is recommended to use the coordinate system’s default units to prevent potential errors in volume and area calculations.
  4. Metadata: All feature properties' metadata included in the file will be listed in DatuBIM.
