Delta volume - enhanced volume tracking with DatuBIM

DatuBIM's Delta Volume tool provides precise, user-friendly tracking of volume changes for effective design and management. It calculates volumes against various surfaces, ensuring comprehensive jobsite monitoring. Utilize chart or graph views for easy validation of invoices and progress, and seamlessly share results with stakeholders through DatuBIM or export as a PDF.

Glossary

Initial view

  1. The name of the analytic measurement. Don’t forget to write a distinguished name!
  2. It can be assigned a layer for sub-grouping
  3. It can be added to a group of DatuBIM entities
  4. As the name implies, it calculates the delta volume between 2 or more surfaces. This option allows selecting different surfaces for the calculation:
    1. Interpolated: a surface created from the polygon marked by the user. It considers only the vertices pinned by the user
    2. Minimum elevation: Creates a horizontal surface at the minimal elevation inside the polygon
    3. Custom elevation: Let the user choose the elevation for the horizontal surface
    4. [dates]: other flights to compare
    5. [designs]: other design surfaces to compare
  5. Define the previously selected surface (labeled as 'D') as a base or target:
    1. Base surface: calculated by subtracting the surface of the previously chosen flight from the currently highlighted flight (labeled as 'F' and indicated as selected on the flight timeline at the top of the screen)
    2. Target surfacecalculated by subtracting the surface of the currently highlighted flight (labeled as 'F' and indicated as selected on the flight timeline at the top of the screen) from the previously chosen flight
  6. The flight in focus. It is also marked as selected on the flights’ timeline on the top of the screen. The selected flight can be changed by clicking a different flight on the timeline. Clicking here allows switching from “All mapping instances” view
  7. Switch to advanced view, where it is possible to add additional flights and designs to the analytics comparison
  8. Cut: Sum of the volumes that are above the target surface or below the base surface
  9. Fill: Sum of the volumes that are below the target surface or above the base surface
  10. Net: Fill volume minus Cut volume
  11. Area: a 2D calculation of the polygon’s area
  12. Min elevation: the minimal elevation inside the polygon
  13. Max elevation: the maximal elevation inside the polygon
  14. Report: print the analytic measurement to PDF
  15. Additional options:
    1. Zoom into: zoom to the analytics’ polygon
    2. Download DXF: download the analytic as a DXF file
    3. Download CSV: download the analytics’ data points as CSV (Artifact,Reference surface,Surface reference type,Cut [m³],Fill [m³],Net [m³],Min elevation [m],Max elevation [m])
    4. Delete: delete the analytic if it was saved
  16. Minimize temporarily the details card to view a larger area of the model
  17. Discard: discard the analytics if it was not saved or the changes if it was saved
  18. Save: save the analytic to the analytics panel
